Feeling Safe at Work During a Pandemic

Since many workers are now back at the office, staying and feeling safe at work are top priorities for every business. The possibility of becoming exposed to COVID-19 probably makes all of us feel on edge. However, there are many steps you can take to ensure you stay healthy along with the others around you. Even if your business is in a small office building, or has plenty of open work space, there are always solutions to stay safe.

Staying Covered as Much as You Can

Just like a seatbelt, a mask only works if you wear it. We’re not saying that you have to be “masked” your entire work day, but whenever you aren’t at least 6-feet apart from others or in your own personal space, it should be kept on. For example, in an open work space such as a conference room, make sure to wear one since there will most likely be multiple people in attendance. It’s also important to ensure that everyone is wearing one and not just a few people because it won’t be as effective, and everyone should feel as safe at work as possible.

Disinfect, Sanitize, & Repeat

These tips are no different than the ones for seasonal cold or flu – except it’s COVID-19. When it comes to keeping your personal items clean in a small office building or a large office building - disinfecting your own desk, chair, office supplies, laptop, etc. is vital to keeping yourself free of the virus. Not only your items, but keeping the universal office supplies, printers, doorknobs, elevator buttons, and more sanitized is also crucial in order to not spread the virus if anyone has it. By taking all of these steps, it not only helps create a more flexible office space, but leads to less overall worry in the office. We also can’t express how important washing and sanitizing your hands is during this time. One tip we have is to have your own hand sanitizer bottle at your desk.
